Safe Nut-Free Snacks Included at Columbus Zoo’s Halloween Celebration
Salida, CO – Tasty and nutritious nut-free snacks for kids are coming to Columbus Zoo’s Halloween Celebration, thanks to a Colorado-based company with Ohio roots called Don’t Go Nuts.
The company will give 23,000 full sized nut-free energy snack bars to trick-or-treaters at the Columbus Zoo this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The treats also are non-GMO, certified organic and kosher-dairy. Don’t Go Nuts will be in “little boo village” handing out four of its playfully packaged bars: Gorilla Power (chocolate chip granola bar), Lift Service (brownie bar), Whitewater Chomp (white chocolate chip granola bar) and Blueberry.
“Halloween can be truly scary for kids with peanut and tree nut allergies,” said Jane Pinto, Don’t Go Nuts CEO and co-founder. “We wanted to give to the Columbus community and help increase awareness of the need for safe nut-free options by participating in these festive events.”
The family-run company’s 14-year-old daughter, Lily, suffers from a life-threatening allergy to peanuts and tree nuts. Lily inspired and approved the company’s Field to Fingers Nut-Free Process for ensuring safe nut-free foods.
Two of the Don’t Go Nuts team members grew up in Dublin, and the third attended Ohio State University.
The energy snack bars and Don’t Go Nuts soy spreads are sold locally at Raisin Rack Natural Food Market in Westerville.
